10% fall in UK house prices for 2010 predicted

With the UK property market beginning to pick up again, property rentals will soon tighten up and
extortionate amounts will be requested no more for monthly rent. The average price of houses having
tumbled over the past 2 years, is set to fall slightly further in 2010 analysts predict. With the
general consensus reckoning another 10% fall across the board for UK house prices. So all going well,
and with no shocks to the UK economy, house sales should pick up. Meaning less demand for rental
properties, and lower monthly rent values that landlords can command.

All in all I reckon letting agents, as well as private landlords won’t be able to have the luxury of
such high budgets to advertise their properties, given the decrease in monthly income coming in. The
fall in monthly rent likely to be in line with the decrease in property valuation, of 10%.

I reckon companies like Flat Rent Edinburgh will be popping up across the UK. They seem to be taking a fresh approach to the property rental market and offering both letting agents and private landlords a cheap and affordable way to list their property for let, to a captive online audience. At present their allowing private landlords to submit each property for only £4.99 until let! How long this will last for, I can’t say, not long though is my guess!

Owned by Skyline Property Group, www.flatrentedinburgh.co.uk also offer rental advice for tenants. I would imagine this particularly effective in a cultural city such as Edinburgh, with so potential tenants coming from abroad. I guess why they also offer the ability to translate their entire site into multiple languages at the click of 1 button. A very nice feature indeed. Long may sites popping up like this one continue. And with analysts predicting that interest rates set to stay low in the UK for several years to come, the letting market will remain vibrant enough, but without the sharp increase in
monthly rent being commanded by landlords that we’ve seen in 2009 in the UK.

Why We Should All Take Last Minute Breaks This Winter

As the long summer days become a distant memory, and the cold winter nights start to draw in, most of us start to daydream about getting away from it all. We hope to escape the dark frosty mornings, the cold icy winds, the grey oppressing skies, but most of all we hope to escape the drudgery of everyday life that always feels so much more depressing in winter.

Well perhaps there is a light at the end of this long dark tunnel, perhaps one of those last minute breaks away somewhere will help; a change of scenery, change of climate, and more importantly, a change of lifestyle for a small while. Nothing too dramatic of course, or too expensive, even just a couple of days away can work wonders for our self esteem and feeling of well being, giving us a helping hand to make it through the harsh days of winter to the blossoming bloom of spring at the other side. Last minute breaks could be anything from one, two or three nights to a couple of weeks depending on your finances and amount of time you can get off work.

So reckon about what it is you need at the moment; some fresh air and exercise, some retail therapy, a spa break, some sun on your face, a theatre weekend even, or perhaps an all inclusive, self indulgent few weeks away from it all. The best place to start looking for last minute breaks is the internet; this is where you’ll find all the offers without having to go out in the cold!

If it’s a small break you are after then Dublin, Prague, Budapest or even Paris are a excellent place to start, Edinburgh or London also offer fantastic shopping and theatres without having to leave the country, no escaping the weather there though! If it’s something a small warmer you are after, then the Canaries, Egypt or even the Caribbean are all strong contenders for some winter sunshine. Egypt boasts the wonderful Red Sea Region where you’ll be spoilt for choice with fabulous beaches, superb snorkelling and world class dive sites. The Canaries are a group of islands just off the North West coast of Africa, a diverse small collection offering vast sandy beaches, gorgeous natural scenery, superb family entertainment, national parks, zoos and one of Spain’s top tourist attractions; the imposing Mount Teide volcano which dominates the skyline of Tenerife. If you fancy something a small further away, then why not try the Caribbean, a cluster of over 7000 islands offering gems such as Cuba, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and Aruba with its soft white sandy beaches and dazzling warm blue waters. Fantastic all inclusive resorts are just waiting to indulge you while cosy guest houses offer an authentic and warm welcome.

Benidorm is a firm favourite with winter holidaymakers, many of which return year after year to the brilliant facilities and balmy winter sunshine. Some older holidaymakers choose to stay for a month or more and it is extremely busy over Christmas and New Year. So empty out those pockets, check down the back of the sofa, count your copper and choose from the last minute breaks available today. Whether its overnight or a month away it will give you that much needed boost to see you through the long winter months ahead, but be quick, tour operators are having to make credit crunching cut backs and availability is limited, so act quickly and make sure you don’t miss out on the best of the last minute breaks on the market, turning that daydream into reality.

What Should You Do if You Have Credit Card Debt?

Yesterday I read some worrying news that credit card spending is still increasing dispite the past 12 months warning we’ve had in the form of the credit crunch.

UK consumers are using credit cards as means of day to day living, so using their credit cards every month just to ‘get by’ with the increased cost of living. Unfortunately the Bank of England has announced they expect inflation to continue rising in the UK and expect it to hit 5.5 per cent before the end of 2008. This level of inflation has not been experienced in the UK for well over 20 years.

Unfortunately people will continue to struggle to make their finances stretch and it looks as though people are already turning to credit cards as a means of survival.

If you already have credit card debt the best immediate action you can take is to transfer the balance onto a 0 per cent balance transfer deal. There are plenty of cards on offer and I’ve described 4 of the better cards on offer in the UK on my blog yesterday; thefinancialblog.co.uk One thing to consider is the balanace transfer fee the credit card provider will charge you. This is a set charge, usually a percentage of the total ammount you wish to transfer. For example, if you transfer £5,000 to another credit card the provider usually charges from 2.98 per cent to 3.5 per cent, so you will be charged from £149 to £175. The balance transfer fees vary from provider to provider so make sure you find out exactly how much you will be charged.

The benefit of transferring a balance to one of these credit cards is that the provider offers you 0 per cent interest for a specified time period. The longest 0 per cent deal in the UK today is 15 months. So you have well over a year of no interst, of course you still have to pay the monthly minimum ammount, but interest on a balance of around £5,000 can be as much as £20 or more.

If you are really struggling to clear your credit card debt and, as many people do, you’re using one credit card to pay off another, then now is the time to seek professional debt management advice. If you are unsure where to start looking for excellent, free debt advice then contact your local citizens advice bureaux; details of which can be found online or in your Yellow Pages. Beating the Credit Crunch with Promotional Products

In times of the recession within the UK business is expected to struggle over the next few months to a year. Businesses whether forced to or not start to look at ways in which they can cut their budgets and this on more occasions that not can mean cutting the spending on company marketing. But cutting down marketing efforts does not help a company in the long run. After all people still need to know about your brand and this is especially vital for new business. Alas cutting down marketing spending does not offer a simple solution but rather complicates things further down the line. Businesses should therefore be thinking about ways in which they can maximise their marketing efforts, get their brand out there and to do this with a minimum amount of spending but to a fantastic degree of success and ROI and promotional products offer this.Promotional products refer to merchandise that are used in marketing and communication program of a business. Promotional products, also known as corporate gifts or promotional gifts, are simple artefacts that contain your company brand logo. The beauty of promotional products is that there are so many to choose from all depending on your company’s budget and they come with no-strings attached. When thinking of promotional products people commonly reckon of promotional pens and promotional mugs. But there are so much more that can really add something to your company. You can have promotional games such as Rubix Cubes to other toys and games. You can get promotional USBs, computer mice and mice mats. These are all very useful pieces of equipment to have and all contain you company’s brand that people will use on a daily basis. The perception that promotional gifts can give to your company are also one of the things that makes promotional gifts so worthwhile. If you are an IT company and you give away free promotional USBs to customers and prospective customers it shows that your company understands new technology and people’s needs as well as having a product that is very much a part of the industry you operate in. Promotional gifts can also make your company appear fun, zany and wacky which, in the internet age, is a excellent way of getting noticed. Giving away promotional sweets, games, stress toys or golf balls for example is a welcome surprise and does not give your company too much of a cold corporate perception. This is a common strategy which huge corporations are using now and if you go to any huge exhibition you will see well known companies such as EBay, Microsoft and Google using it.Another positive aspect of promotional products is the cost. Promotional products are very cost effective and you can pay for what you need as you buy them in batches. On top of this there are so many varieties of the same product that range in price. For example you can get luxury metallic promotional pens or a cheaper plastic alternative all of which can be bought in different batch sizes. So for small businesses it may be a batch of 100 and for larger businesses a batch of 10,000 and so on-it is really up to you.Overall promotional gifts show that there is hope in this economic climate to still advertise and market your brand and that cutting the budget altogether is not the only option. There are other ways in getting your brand noticed and heard and promotional products offer a fantastic solution to this.

Credit Crunch Solutions – What About Starting Your Own Online Business on a Budget?

Making money from the Internet & starting an online website business.

I get questioned by a lot of people how do you set-up an online business and really make money?

Well this often depends on what you do, sell or provide.

For instance most people for a more rapid response and quicker sales resort to eBay and other auction websites, some people even get a eBay shop as this is cheaper than hosting your own site and its linked to eBay.

All this is right and does work, but still depends on what your selling, I have heard that some people have even sold their furniture online because they got carried with eBay selling, its addictive, turn your unwanted stuff in to money and all usually within a week.

Eventually these people realise they have nothing to sit on and that’s the end of eBay, pots of money but nothing in their home.

What you need to do is some research, find a product that is hot at the moment and save up some money at least a thousand or so, your going to need it, but the return could net you 600%.

Look online and in the local papers, loot, exchange and mart and try to find any auctions of clearance or bankrupt stock items, lets say for example the hottest thing is Mobile Phones, pay as you go, (and when I say hot I mean well loved not stolen), boxed, sealed you could pick-up for something like £10 each and sell for £60 they retail at £120 because you know this you did your research.

You need a bargain to sell on eBay this is a golden rule. Don’t pay over the odds or just under retail value for something your going to sell on again or you’ll get stuck with it and be forced to sell it for less that you paid, something a lot of eBayers do.

Never buy a job lot unless there is at least 100% profit in it, by the time you take out eBays fee’s, postage, and Paypal charges your down to 80%, soon drops.

Heres a quick guide to buying to sell on eBay.

An example: buy for £10, retail at currys for £60, you sell for £30, and people will snap your hands off. Sell for £50 and you will be lucky to sell any, people want a bargain, groundbreaking new, boxed and unused.

Remember these simple steps and you cant go incorrect.

Starting a business online is the ultimate dream for some people, really owning a dot com, starting up on a budget of a few hundred pounds and selling in two years for Zillions.

Well maybe not everyone can do this and very few have but there is still room for money to be made by budding internet entrepreneurs.

The thing is you will keep hearing of another internet company selling to some other internet company for 185 Billion or something, started by John Smith in his bedroom at the age of 10.

You can be next, anyone can be next.

Remember the PIXEL guy from the UK who was sat in his bedroom one day, bored and looking to make money for his university education? He chose to design a website and sell the space on it for advertising pixel by pixel, it was call ed the Million Dollar Website.

You have to give respect to the guy he wanted to make a million pound from selling advertising space on his un-heard of website, well it was unheard of until the national news and TV heard what he plotted to do, in no time at all everyone was curious and logged on to his site, pixels sold like mad and he made his million within weeks not months as he originally plotted.

Now if a young guy like this can reckon of something like that, then what’s the problem with making money online yourself, get thinking…
